Peter, the affectionate ginger and white kitty, had a long journey before finding his forever home. He spent seven months at the Genesee County Animal Shelter Dogs and Cats, waiting patiently for someone to take him home.
The shelter staff knew that Peter was a special cat with a unique personality and features, so they decided to take some photos of him to help him find a permanent home.
The photos they took of Peter went viral on Facebook, and he quickly became an internet sensation. People from all over the world were drawn to Peter’s adorable face and charming personality. The post describing Peter as a “big love” who enjoyed being held, cuddled, and talked to, with unique markings on his face and a huge personality to match, received over 10,000 shares.
The shelter staff were amazed by the response they received from the internet. On the day that people started showing up to adopt Peter, around 28 people had already arrived before noon. People came from far and wide to meet the ginger boy who had captured their hearts through his photos.
The first person to arrive at the shelter to meet Peter was Melissa Graham, who was eager to find a feline companion to take home. When she met Peter, it was love at first sight. The ginger boy cuddled up to her and made her his forever human.
Although Peter had found his happy ending, his fame did not stop there. Due to the attention he received on the internet, more than ten other cats were adopted that same day. People were inspired by Peter’s story and wanted to give other animals like him a chance at a better life.
