When a man saw the poor dog on the side of the road, he knew they had to stop. He assumed the dog had been hit by a car, but the reality of the dog’s true situation remained to be seen.
He walked toward the dog expecting the worst but when they got closer, the dog began to wag her tail. He was not yet sure what was wrong with the dog, but he did know that he couldn’t leave her on the highway.
The sweet dog allowed herself to be petted and soon sat up to greet the man. Her eyes pleaded for help, so he decided it was safe to pick her up and carry her to his car, happy to be taking her to safety.
With a happy heart, the man realized she didn’t seem to be injured. But he took her to the vet for an examination and after an ultrasound, found her situation was much different than what he first assumed to be true.
The little brown and black dog was pregnant and had been dumped on the side of the road. So, what he assumed to be an injured dog was actually a dog expecting a litter of puppies!
His heart went out to her, and he decided to take her home. How could someone dump her when she was in her condition? It is impossible to understand the cruelty of that act.
Once at her new home, she began to blossom. She was healthy and happy and fifteen days later, the sweet pup gave birth to a litter of healthy puppies.
Despite the harshness of how the world treated her, the dog was a loving mother who tenderly cared for her puppies. Her rescuer was so happy he could save them all and gave her all the space she needed to care for her puppies.
Thankfully, he stopped and helped her when he did because not only did he save her life, but he also saved the life of her puppies, too. Certainly, they were in danger and had no way to safely get off the highway alone.
