A tiny little cat was discovered in front of a Las Vegas residence by a compassionate neighbor. The sight of the identical little brothers and sisters nearby broke their hearts, but unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to help them. The mother cats were nowhere to be found, leaving the lone infant in dire need of attention.
It was at this moment that Nikki Martinez, a field and overexposure volunteer, jumped into action to rescue the kitten. Alongside her husband, Pule Kotov, she has spent the last decade helping and preserving furries in need. Despite Pule’s recent cancer diagnosis, they continued to dedicate their time and energy to helping these little creatures.
“She was so little and frail that we wondered if she had a future, but we were determined to aid her in the struggle,” Nikki explains.
The kitten was named Rocky and spent her first night in a cozy incubator, having a good meal. Nikki and her husband took turns feeding the baby by the hour, keeping her warm and cozy. For the first week, Nikki woke up every two hours at night to take care of the kitten. Rocky gradually developed an appetite and began to grow.
Daddy Kotov bottle-fed her whenever he could, and every time he looked at the kitten, he couldn’t help but smile.
At 24 days old, Rocky proudly left her nest and moved into a mini-playpen where she began to develop her leg muscles. The fluffy baby was intrigued by a bunch of new toys and tried to grab them all, despite the fact that she was still a little wobbly. She enjoyed being spoiled and insisted on snacks (bottles) all day long.
When Papulya Kotov underwent a crucial procedure, which was a tremendous success, Rocky took all of the foster mother’s attention, comforted her, and diverted her. After leaving the hospital, Daddy Kotov was eager to meet his little pride and joy and insisted on taking back some of his parental responsibilities. Rocky was given a bottle by the man, and the girl happily downed the meal. It was an incredible scene to see two genuine warriors for life encouraging one another.
In just five weeks, Rocky transformed into Miss Independence. She revealed her inner audacity and showed it without hesitation. Becoming more playful and curious, she began to misbehave with all her might. Rocky loved to play with Daddy Kotov and follow him around the house, preying on his feet. She sat next to him and purred encouragingly as if she understood that he needed help to recover.
Rocky took a while to learn how to feed herself since she spent so much time with her foster parents and a bottle. Nikki and her spouse were thrilled when she finally made the decision to grow up. Rocky has spent her time playing games and improving her cat abilities.
The guardians imagined the perfect hosts for the girl, who would treat her like a tiny princess when it came time for her to stretch her wings and fly away.
“She is quite unique compared to all the kitties I have encountered. Very independent,” claims Nikki. Rocky is the lone survivor of her brood, and she has been a godsend, helping her husband and her through his cancer diagnosis and treatment process.
The guardians searched for the perfect family for a few weeks before finding them. Next week, Rocky will move into her ideal home.
“Our passion is protecting and nurturing. For the past ten years, we have enjoyed having the opportunity to care for cats in need. As long as there is good health and vigor, we shall keep working every day.”
We can all learn a thing or two from Nikki and Pule’s unwavering dedication to these furry little creatures. It’s heartwarming to see the kind of love and care they provide for them. Let’
